PRC Lists Organizations Committed to Retirement Security
Many organizations have successfully encouraged companies to make significant improvements to pensions for their workers and retirees. By helping retirees assert their rights, these groups have had a significant impact on countless lives. PRC lists some of these retiree organizations in the Action section of our web site. Let us know if you know of a group that we should add to the list.
Help Us Build a Grassroots Movement
For more than three decades, the Pension Rights Center has worked with grassroots groups and individual activists who are committed to working for fairer and more adequate pension policies. Through this Pension Action e-newsletter, we keep you informed of policy and legal issues and let you know what the Pension Rights Center and other organizations are doing to build a nationwide movement for pension justice. Ask your friends and family to join the movement by signing up to receive Pension Action.
Tell Us Your Story
In a new section of our web site called Employee Voices we have compiled stories of individuals who have been hurt when their pension ends up being less than what their employer promised. Share your story with us so we can take it with us when we go to Capitol Hill. Many have already written about how they have been impacted by their company's decision to freeze or terminate their pension plan. Add your story.
Pension Tension Blues
Ever had the pension blues? Well, with companies breaking their promises to workers and retirees by reducing benefits, freezing and terminating their plans, Pension Governance, LLC, a pension research firm, decided to put the frustrations many face with the pension system to music. Armed with a guitar and a long list of complaints, Susan Mangiero and Steven Zelin used their talent to write this creative song. Watch the video.
Noted Playwright and Activist Gail George Passes Away
Gail George, author of the play Helen and Jack, died after a long battle with cancer. A dancer and actress, Gail wrote the play after hearing about Helen Quirini's quest to get cost-of-living adjustments for General Electric retirees. Helen and Jack is about Helen's brief meeting with former CEO Jack Welch and what Gail imagines would have happened had the meeting continued. Helen wanted to share this play in memory of her friend.
