This will be a very busy week in Washington.  Here’s a breakdown of what’s going on this week in the nation’s capital.

Monday
President Obama hosts a select number of lawmakers and policy experts at a “Fiscal Responsibility Summit” to address the long-term economic health of the nation.  Read this article for more information.

Tuesday
The House Committee on Education and Labor will hold a hearing titled “Strengthening Worker Retirement Security.”  The committee will hear testimony from a variety of pension policy experts, including PRC Board member Alicia Munnell of the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College.  The hearing starts at 10:30 a.m. Visit the committee’s web site to view a full witness list and watch the live web cast.

President Obama will deliver an address to the nation describing his plans for the 2009 budget.

Wednesday
The U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging will hold a hearing called “Boomer Bust? Securing Retirement in a Volatile Economy.”  The Washington Post reports that the hearing will address a variety of issues related to the volatile stock market and the ability of baby boomers to retire.  Visit the committee’s web site to watch the live web cast.
