01/07/11

WASHINGTON – The following is a statement from Karen Ferguson, director of the Pension Rights Center, on the death of Senator Edward M. Kennedy:

“The Pension Rights Center joins the country in mourning the loss of Senator Ted Kennedy, the Senate’s most steadfast and effective advocate for American families. As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, Senator Kennedy secured critical pension protections for women and older workers.

“Senator Kennedy was the champion of champions of worker and women’s rights. He was someone that we could count on to fight for justice against all odds. He is truly irreplaceable and will be missed beyond measure by all of us. We send our heartfelt sympathy to his family.”
