Companies That Have Changed Their Defined Benefit Pension Plans

Below is a list of employers that have announced significant changes to their defined benefit pension plans since December 2005. Changes include plan terminations, plan freezes for new and/or current employees, and changes to the formula by which pension benefits are calculated. (Note: this is not a comprehensive list. These are only the changes that we are aware of, based on corporate press releases, news reports and other sources. This list does not include changes that have been made through the collective-bargaining process.)

An annuity is a pension benefit that is paid out in a specific amount over a set period of time. Annuities typically last for the lifetime of the participant, or the lives of both the participant and his or her spouse, depending on the type of annuity selected. Joint-and-Survivor and Single-Life are types of annuities.
